When Is A Sale Really A Sale?
It often seems that the major furniture retailers are always having a sale, and no sooner one promotion ends than another starts. It is important to do your research when thinking of investing in new living room furniture, and knowing when a sofas sale is worth investigating and when to hold off.
By law, items promoted as being reduced must be sold at a higher price for 28 days before a store can advertise a reduction. However, introductory or special offers have no such requirement and often stores ship in special sale stock to advertise at low prices and attract customers through the doors. Comparing prices between several stores or with online retailers will give you a good idea of what you should realistically expect to pay for the items you are interested in. This will stop you being seduced by marketing which appears to be a bargain but is actually quite expensive. Many retailers also build some flexibility into their pricing, putting you in a strong position to try to negotiate some sort of discount with the sales person. Many also offer attractive credit deals which can spread the cost of your new furniture.
