The Shy Child – Specific Problems and Tips

Friends are important part in the development and the life of every kid. The kids play and explore in more creative and effective way when they are together in a group. Unfortunately, there are some shy kids who face different problems in communication and social life. The kids learn from each other different new abilities and are able to have fun longer than the adults want or are capable to. The friends make the child to feel important and improve his self-confidence, but the shy kids meet the surrounding environment in a completely different way.

The shy kids manage to be more social really hard. Even though in the preschool age most of the kids are scared from unknown people and feel uncomfortable in a company with strangers, some of the kids experience very hard time with the adaptation to the surrounding world and people.

Some children, especially the first-born, who were a subject of perfect care and were treated with astonishing love and attention like they are the center of the universe, are really prone to extremely shyness. The reason for that is that they always receive huge admiration and attention from their family without even to put any minimal efforts. Therefore, they are unable to begin a conversation, to answer several simple questions and to show their love to the rest of the world.

Check out below what you can do to help your shy child. It will definitely you help to overcome that unpleasant problem.

  • Teach your child how to communicate. Explain him in a simple way that he can go to the rest of the kids and participate in the game. Tell him not to be scared and that you are around and will help him whenever he got a problem.
  • When your child is shy, then in the beginning you can limit his play and daily pursuits in smaller groups. Try to organize different games which can be played only by two or three participants. Most of the shy kids feel themselves better in small groups with younger kids or older patronizing children.
  • The shy kid is ready for the kindergarten later than the communicative one. If you feel that there is a need, you can always delay the regular visits in the kindergarten for one or two years.
  • Prepare your shy child for the upcoming stressful situations which he is going to face. Explain him in the best possible manner to expect, what is allowed and what prohibited. It will help him to face the potential dangers without any obstacles.
  • Don’t force your child to achieve any success. More important is not to compare him with the rest of the kids. Don’t criticize his negative actions too much and always mention his positive results.

Use these useful tips as a guide to help your shy child to understand and perceive the surrounding world and people. It’s going to be slow process and you have to be patient and motivated for better results. But with little bit dedication and huge love everything is possible.
